For a longer stay, pick Homewood: every suite has a kitchen. Hotel Lucine is close too, but it has two floors and no elevator, which matters if anyone in your group struggles with stairs.

Booking for a hospital stay

Rates. UTMB's room blocks belong to specific courses; for one in spring 2026 the deadlines were March 20 and 21 (UTMB course hotels). If you're attending a course, use the hotel information for your event. If you're here for treatment, ask the hotel directly about a patient or family rate.

Dates that may change. Before you book, look up the rate's cancellation deadline, what happens if you leave early and whether you can extend. Prepaid and non-refundable rates are the hardest to change.

Limited mobility. Book the accessible room type by name and ask what it includes. Not everyone can manage a 14-minute walk, so plan a ride and a drop-off at the right building. John Sealy's main entrance and circle drive reopened on January 11, 2024, after construction (UTMB construction news). None of these hotels runs a shuttle to UTMB, so plan a rideshare on appointment days.

Help from UTMB. A patient resource specialist works at the Health Resource Center in Jennie Sealy Hospital (712 Texas Ave, main lobby, 2nd floor), weekdays 8 am to 5 pm: (409) 266-7542. UTMB Health Resource Center.

Parking at UTMB

If you drive to campus

UTMB runs three public parking options on the Galveston campus, open 24 hours. Your hotel parking doesn't cover them, so if you drive to the hospital you pay twice unless your ticket is validated.
