How to choose

How to choose

Driving in

Put the hotel's cruise deal next to what the port charges for the same days. Gaido's parks your car for free but leaves the ride to you. The Holiday Inn Resort, the San Luis and the Hilton pair parking with a ride to the ship. The Tremont House charges for parking, and in return Terminal 25 is a five-minute walk.

Flying in

The Tremont House and the three Hilton hotels say they have no airport shuttle, and none of the others advertises one. Hobby is about 43 miles from the Seawall and Bush Intercontinental about 72 (Hilton's figures for the DoubleTree). A hotel you can walk from, or one with a shuttle to the ship, spares you a second ride on boarding day.

Getting to the ship without a hotel shuttle

Taxis and rideshares both work. Uber and Lyft are the only rideshare services allowed on Port of Galveston property.

The night before

Downtown, the Strand's restaurants are next door. At the Seawall hotels you get the beach and a pool. Most check out at 11 am; the Tremont House at noon.
