The short answer

Which Royal Caribbean ships sail from Galveston

The port's calendar lists 130 Royal Caribbean departures between November 2026 and October 2027. Liberty of the Seas makes more than half of them, three trips a week. Symphony of the Seas is the newest ship here today; from August 16, 2027 that title goes to Icon of the Seas. Mariner of the Seas left after its last trip in October 2026.

What changes in 2027

  • Symphony of the Seas keeps its 7-night Sunday trips until April 25, 2027. From May it alternates 6-night trips on Sundays with 8-night trips on Saturdays, which add Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau.
  • Symphony's last Galveston sailing leaves on August 8, 2027: ten nights, one way, to Fort Lauderdale. From there it sails 6- to 8-night Caribbean trips. Royal Caribbean said no sailings would be cancelled. Guests booked on later Symphony dates could switch to Liberty with fare protection, rebook or take a full refund.
  • Icon of the Seas starts on August 16, 2027 with 6- and 8-night trips. From November 14, 2027 it sails 7 nights every Sunday to Roatán, Costa Maya and Cozumel.
  • Liberty stays all year. Once, on September 13, 2027, it sails from Terminal 16 instead of 10, so check your boarding pass.
  • Perfect Day Mexico, the private resort Royal Caribbean planned near Costa Maya, was rejected by Mexico's environmental agency on May 20, 2026 and has no new date. Costa Maya's cruise port works as usual.
  • Royal Beach Club Cozumel is due to open on December 31, 2026. Royal Caribbean sells it as a paid shore excursion.

Where they go

Itineraries by length

Royal Caribbean counts nights, not days. The "5-day" cruise people search for is Liberty's 5-night trip: Saturday to Thursday or Monday to Saturday. On the 4- and 5-night trips you only see Mexico. Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean's island in the Bahamas, is on the 8-night trips in summer and autumn 2027.

What a cruise costs

Royal Caribbean shows fares only in its booking search, and they change daily. On November 1, 2026 its Galveston page carried a general "as low as $249" banner without naming a sailing, so we don't list prices here. Search with your dates and compare the total with taxes, fees and gratuities.

Before you book

Costs, rules and documents

Gratuities come on top of the fare every day, drinks and Wi-Fi cost extra, and Royal Caribbean puts a hold on your card when you board.

Sources: Royal Caribbean help pages on card holds, the SeaPass account, gratuities, alcohol, corkage, birth certificates, age rules and arrival times, read on November 1, 2026.

The $99.75 charge
Not a charge but a hold. Royal Caribbean places a pending authorization of $99.75 on the card linked to your onboard SeaPass account. Spend more and further holds follow. Most drop off by the end of the cruise; some take up to 30 days, depending on your bank. A second Royal Caribbean help page gives the first hold as $100
Gratuities
$18.50 per guest per day in standard cabins, $21 in suites, added to your onboard account each day unless you prepay. You can change the amount on board
Service charges
18% on drinks and drink packages, specialty restaurants, room service and the minibar; 20% at the spa and salon
Not in the fare
Drink packages, Wi-Fi, specialty dining and shore excursions. Royal Caribbean's Galveston itinerary pages don't give the package prices
Wine
Each guest 21 or older may carry one sealed 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne on boarding day. No beer, spirits or boxed wine. Opening it in a bar or restaurant costs $15
Documents, US citizens
Royal Caribbean recommends a passport. On most round trips from the US, a state-certified birth certificate plus government photo ID also works; children 15 and under need only the birth certificate. Hospital certificates and photocopies don't count
Age rules
Guests under 21 share a cabin with someone 21 or older, with a few exceptions such as connecting cabins or married couples. Babies must be at least 6 months old on the first day, or 12 months on trips with three or more sea days in a row
Check-in
Check in on the Royal app at least 3 days before you sail and pick an arrival time. Otherwise you finish check-in at the pier at least 2 hours before departure. Don't come earlier than your time slot: there's little room in the terminal

Terminal 10 and parking

Royal Caribbean's terminal is at Pier 10, 1402 Harborside Drive. From I-45, take exit 1C toward Harborside Drive, turn left on Harborside and then left into Royal Caribbean Way. The terminal opened in November 2022. On sailing day the port's lots usually open at 9 am, and you can drop your bags at the terminal before you park. Royal Caribbean's local agent on the day: 1-409-682-3157.

From the port's parking page and FAQ, read on November 1, 2026. Royal Caribbean's own help page names the North, South and Pier 14 lots with shuttles, which doesn't fully match the port's list. The port shows prices only in its booking form, takes cards only and lets you cancel free up to 24 hours before sailing. There's no free parking at the terminal.

Flying in

From Houston's airports to the ship

Royal Caribbean sells its own airport transfer, but only for sailing day and the day you come back. For taxis, private cars and the other shuttles, see airport to cruise port.

Royal Caribbean's transfer
Runs from the airport to the pier on sailing day and back on the last day only. You need your flight details. Royal Caribbean suggests booking about two weeks ahead, through your travel advisor or Reservations at (800) 327-6700
Which airport
Hobby (HOU) is about 45 minutes from the port and Bush Intercontinental (IAH) about an hour and a half. Flying from Los Angeles or elsewhere, you land at one of these two
Shared shuttles
Royal Galveston Shuttle charges $40 a person for a shared seat and isn't part of Royal Caribbean, despite the name. Galveston Express charges $45 a person each way
Uber and Lyft
Both serve the port. Prices depend on the time of day

Hotels near Terminal 10

A night in Galveston before you sail takes the stress out of a delayed flight or traffic on I-45. Harbor House at Pier 21 and The Tremont House are both less than a mile from Pier 10. Several hotels keep your car while you sail. The Mariner Inn is at 1602 Seawall Blvd, about 1.2 miles from the port. It lists free self-parking and doesn't mention a cruise shuttle.
