Five hotels are within a 10-minute walk of the convention center on the Seawall at 57th Street, the closest only 4 minutes away. Two include breakfast and parking, and the center's own garage is free.

Hotels you can walk from

Measured to the convention center at 5600 Seawall Blvd. All five are on Seawall Boulevard. Beachfront Palms and Hyatt Select include breakfast and parking, while the Hilton charges for both.

Here for an event? Ask about the room block first. Find out from the organizer whether there's an official hotel block, how to book it, the deadline, the cancellation terms and whether the center's shuttle stops at that hotel. Then compare with the rates below. A block isn't always cheaper, but only block hotels get the shuttle.

  • Hyatt Select: Like Beachfront Palms, it includes breakfast and parking, and the rooms have balconies. Bringing a dog? Hyatt doesn't let you leave it alone in the room while you're at your event.
  • The San Luis Resort: A full resort next to the center, with a spa, a pool and three restaurants. Dogs up to 40 lb can stay. It takes no cash, and your card is authorized for the room plus $100 a night for incidentals. Self-parking is $30 + tax a night, and the resort fee $25 + tax.
  • Holiday Inn Resort: The one for families, with a Kids' Club room, a heated pool with a children's pool and restaurants on site. Parking costs $15 a day, and pets aren't allowed.

Visit Galveston also lists cheaper hotels near the center. Spark by Hilton includes parking and takes pets up to 20 lb. Baymont and Super 8 include parking and a small breakfast, take no pets and want a $50 deposit if you pay cash. The Hampton Inn & Suites takes pets for $75 for 1 to 4 nights, $125 for 5 or more. At the center

Parking and shuttles

The garage under the center is free, so you can just as well drive in from a hotel elsewhere on the island. If your event has a room block, ask the organizer which hotels are contracted. The center runs its shuttle to those.

Staying further away

If the event is only one part of your trip, look at the hotels below. They're roughly 3 to 4 miles from the center by car, and the center's parking is free.

The Seawall trolley stops at 53rd, 57th, 59th and 61st Street. In winter it only runs on Fridays and Saturdays. Trolley days.
