The short answer

Which Norwegian ships sail from Galveston

One ship at a time, and only in some seasons. Norwegian sails 7-night trips from Galveston; the port's calendar to December 2027 has no 4- or 5-night Norwegian cruises. If you want a short trip, look at Carnival or Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas.

2027 and 2028

No Norwegian ship from April to November 2027

Viva's last Galveston round trip leaves on April 3, 2027. A week later, on April 10, it sails one way to Miami and starts cruises from there on April 13. After that, the port's calendar has no Norwegian departures until November 4, 2027.

Then Norwegian Escape takes over. Its first trip is a 9-night cruise to Mexico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Belize. From November 13 it sails 7 nights every Saturday until April 2028, and on April 22, 2028 it leaves one way for Port Canaveral.

For summer 2028, Cruise Industry News reports that Norwegian Prima will sail 7-night trips from Galveston between April and October, the line's first summer season here. Until the sailings are bookable, treat the dates as provisional.

The port's calendar runs to December 2027. Later dates are from Norwegian's announcement and from CruiseTimetables, read on November 1, 2026.

Itineraries

Almost every Norwegian cruise from Galveston follows the same week: a sea day, Cozumel, Roatán, Harvest Caye, Costa Maya and a sea day home. Norwegian's private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay, isn't on the Galveston round trips.

Costs, rules and documents

Norwegian adds a daily service charge to every fare, and its wine rule is looser than most lines': no bottle limit, but corkage even in your cabin.

Sources: Norwegian's pages on the service charge, bringing alcohol, travel documents, age rules, boarding times and departure day, and the Free at Sea Plus price from its December 2025 announcement, read on November 1, 2026.

Service charge
$20 per guest per day, $25 in The Haven and suites, for everyone 3 and older. On a 7-night trip that's $280 for two adults in a standard cabin
Is it all-inclusive?
No. The fare covers your cabin and the included restaurants; on Viva that includes the Indulge Food Hall. The Free at Sea Plus add-on costs $49.99 per guest per day and adds Starbucks, streaming Wi-Fi, house wine and champagne, bottled water and half off extra specialty meals
Wine
You can bring wine and champagne in 750 ml bottles or magnums, with no bottle limit stated. Corkage is $15 per 750 ml bottle and $30 per magnum, wherever you open it, including your cabin. Guests with a drinks package pay no corkage. No beer or spirits
Drinking age
21 on sailings from the US
Documents, US citizens
Norwegian strongly recommends a passport. On these round trips a state-certified birth certificate or passport card with government photo ID also works, as does an enhanced driver's license. US citizens under 16 need no photo ID
Age rules
Guests under 21 share a cabin, or a connecting one, with someone 21 or older; married couples and military 18 and over are exceptions. Babies must be at least 6 months old on boarding day, or 12 months with three or more sea days in a row
Check-in
Do Online Check-In at least 4 days before you sail and print one set of eDocs per cabin. Arrive in the hour before your boarding time, not earlier. Without Online Check-In, come at least two hours before departure. Everyone has to be on board an hour before the ship leaves
Luggage
Two checked bags per guest, up to 50 lb each. Porters take them at the pier

Terminal 16 and parking

Terminal 16 is at 1602 Harborside Drive. It opened in November 2025, and Norwegian shares it with MSC. All the port's Terminal 16 lots are within walking distance, so you don't need a shuttle. The lots usually open at 9 am on sailing day, and you can drop your bags at the terminal first.

The port shows prices only in its booking form, takes cards only and refunds up to 24 hours before sailing. Private lots with shuttles are the alternative: for a Terminal 16 sailing in January 2027, Port Parking quoted $152.03 outdoors and $182.34 indoors for 7 nights. Park 2 Cruise, across the road at 101 13th Street, is a 3 to 5 minute walk.
